At Minehead and West Somerset Golf Club we have many varied open competitions, in a variety of formats, all through the year commencing with our Open Week in March.
We never have temporary greens which means you can enjoy this great course all year round. You will always be made very welcome.
This is a great opportunity to play Somerset's Oldest Links in a competitive yet fun format with friends in great value events.

The final day of our successful March Open week was met with an icy norhteasterly wind that somehow felt colder than the previous few days. I felt for the volunteer starters wrapped up in multiple layers to ensure groups got off on time.
Scoring was good desipte the cold with 4 teams tied on nett 62 (10 under par).
Home team and early starters of Nigel Trevelyan, Roger Read and Tim Evans used their local knowledge to claim the top spot with a better back 9.

Another dry but fresh day faced the 116 competitors in our 4 Ball Better Ball Stableford Open. A mix of Mens / Ladies and Mixed Teams fro the first time will compete for the prizes.
Feedback from this week has been amazing with competitors saying that our greens are the finest they have played this year.
The winners wzarmed up by playing the previous 2 days events and clearly found thier form just in time with an excellent 45 points.

There were 11 qualifying two's today winning 7 balls each.
A bright and dry but chilly day met the competitors with an unusual northeasterly wind making the scoreable front nine play unusually tough.
A field of 93 competitor including 11 players of 3 handicap or better took on the challenge of our historic links.
Scoring was mixed with some low scores and some that struggled in the conditions. The birdie fest of the previous day play was replaced by the course howing it's mettle.
Late entrant Matthew Pennington made the most of the opportuity with 6 gross bridies as the early winds subsided. He was closely follwoed by Richard Alsop (Bromsgrove Golf Centre) on 39 pts and Ellis Taylor who had set the early pace with 38pts.

The sun rises over our Links on our March Open week.
Our traditional start to our golfing season got underway today at our Open Scramble. For the first year the event was open to both Men and Ladies and Mixed Teams and the response has been fantastic with 140 players taking part.
The weather was as good as the scoring with a fine day despite being slightly chilly at times and a rare calm day at Somerset's Oldest Links opened fine scoring opportunties in the forgiving format.
Teams travelled from many parts of England and Wales, with Competitors from many partts of England and Wales making the journey to our historic links. Some for the first of a number of days golf with us.
Scoring was good with the field led by home team of David Farmer, Ben Gregory, Martyn Ketchen, Archie Walsh with a gross 60 (-12) and a nett 54 (-18) to take the top prize.
The team of Gareth Storey, Ian Groves, Sean Riordan and Nick Hill were 2nd with nett 55
3rd were Philip Contreras, Ian German, Noel Munson, Andrew Murrell also with 55 being edged on the back 9.
An incredible 219 birdies and 4 eagles were recorded by teams over the the day.

Our Annual WInter 4BBB Matchplay event, now in its 51st year was as hard fought as ever. With fortnightly matches from the beginning of October and suported by Members of Minehead and West Somerset Golf Club and visiting Golfers alike, the pairs were keen to get thier name on the presigious trophy that has been held aloft by former Ryder Cup players and European Tour winnersin the past.
This years final was fought between home pair Criag Sully and Gavin Paviour against Gary Wide and Daniel Barnes (Vivary Park). Both pairs competiing in their first final.
Some fine golf was played with Gary and Daniel gaining an early lead and holding on to be 4&3 victors.
The 3rd / 4th place playoff was held betwen home paris, Bob Arthington and Criag Walsh who edged W. John Perkins and Peter Young narrowly with a one up win.
The Plate competition for 1st round losing pairs was won by Paul Fullbrook and David Farmer who played some steady golf to beat Nick Baker and Elliott Binding 4&2.
The 2025 event is now opne for entry, please book early to avoid disappointment in one of our most popular and great value Open events.
